About Church & Destroy
Formed in the late autumn of 2008, Church & Destroy are an Acoustic Rock group, hailing from the Brecon/Herefordshire area.
The duo, Daniel Smith (vocals), and Calvin Duggan (guitar) are currently recording their second EP.
“It’s been a whirlwind of a year” Says Smith. “A year ago, we were just kicking things off, putting the final touches to our debut EP. We never expected anything to come of it, and we’ve enjoyed every second of the journey’. Whilst they never expected anything to come of it, their EP, titled ‘For The Family’, garnered them live sessions on radio stations BRFM and BBC Radio Hereford & Worcester.
“Making music is something that’s always come naturally to both Calvin and I, and I’m glad people have enjoyed it too.” Dan continues. Indeed, they gave out more CD’s than they ever expected to make, and word of mouth, and the initiative of giving their music away for free has helped to push their music to more ears.
And as for the future? Smith can only dream: “The immediate thing we’re looking to do is get our next record out there. We’re doing it differently to last time, making a few small cutbacks here, and a great leap forward there. Rest assured, what appears on our next record is going to make ‘For The Family’ look like nothing. As for the rest of the year, we’ll be doing what we did last year, grabbing with both hands every opportunity that comes our way”.
