About Dakota Ruins
Formed in early 2010 by the four founding members; Barney Oakley, Emma Goodband, Steve Bourne and Sam Busby, Dakota Ruins are a metal/hardcore band with an emphasis on tight live performances and catchy yet heavy songs.
A few months after their initial conception, Dakota Ruins added Luke Ashworth to the band as a second guitar and the songs were reworked to incorporate the new member and to establish a post-hardcore sound to their style.
After months songwriting, the band recorded their first EP "The Haze" featuring songs that they released for free download. They also recorded demo tracks of two acoustic songs to be included as bonus tracks. They then proceeded to gig within Kidderminster and Birmingham.
Unfortunately Luke left the band not long after this leaving the band with a space to be filled just before Christmas. The band however soon filled this vacancy with Jon Chadwick who quickly brought his own style and influences to their songs.
After spending the Christmas period getting Jon up to speed, Dakota Ruins entered 2011 with an emphasis on writing and getting back to gigging as soon as possible, as well as recording and releasing their first album "A Place To Call Home".
