On-Screen Heroes

The original 3-piece line-up of On-Screen Heroes was formed through an advert in the NME. A raucous sound and live performance was swiftly established, seeing the band play memorable sets at venues such as the Barfly, Bar Academy, Custard Factory, Hare & Hounds, Jug of Ale, Flapper and Firkin, Rainbow, and Sunflower Lounge in Birmingham, the Kasbah in Coventry, as well as a triumphant visit to Leeds.

Due to the strength of the live performances and impressive catalogue of songs, the band were picked to work with the Robert Plant-backed MAS Records. The fruits of this partnership can be seen with the bands first single, ‘Saturday Comedown’, which although an independent release, was recorded with MAS Records. The band were also chosen to help launch a new music show on Sky Digital channel ‘Red TV’, hosted by Ditto Music, who the band have gone on to use to digitally distribute their debut single. They followed up this debut on film by putting their own contacts and resources into use to shoot a video for ‘Saturday Comedown’.

Despite their progress and growing fanbase, the band always felt that something was missing, and so set about searching for an additional guitarist to help expand the sound in the natural direction that it has heading. This search ended in August, when Steve Burke slotted into the band like the proverbial duck to water. The gigs as a 4 piece so far have proven that the choice was the right one, and the band have booked studio time in February 2010 to record the follow-up single to showcase their new members considerable talent. With this on the horizon and a headline slot at the world famous Cavern Club on Saturday 27 March, 2010 promises to be the most exciting year yet for On-Screen Heroes.
