Partizan Fields

A fellow called Tom had some big ideas about 'The Album'. So he got some basic recording gear, recorded a few demos and started gathering musicians to the glorious cause. Thusly, Phil and Dave joined on guitar and drums respectively and when bassists perpetually failed to turn up to practises, Tom roped his sister Ruth in to play keyboard. Partizan Fields operates under the ethos of doing the wrong thing in the right way - condensing some of the most startling experimental elements and apparent generic incongruities of music from any time and place into a familiar song-based idiom, with the aim of making music that is simultaneously challenging and accessible, in opposition to the notion that they are in some ways mutually exclusive, one or the other. We do not believe in experimentation for its own sake, but where it offers the possibility of a song being able to flourish properly. Neither convention nor unconvention should be an issue, only music, doing whatever it wants to be doing. A song knows what's best for itself no?

As a very bare-bones guideline, we're a bit Radiohead with a dash of Scott walker, a sprinkle of Maynard James keenan, a hint of traditional choral music, a tiny sprinkle of jazz and a generous helping of UK Folk.
